What Goes In This Hole ?

I am talking about the hole in the firewall right above the wire that is comming out for the heater fan . It is about a 2 inch diameter hole .

I have looked up "Search" and none of the firewall pictures have a hole in this area exposed and labeled,, gp

Mines got 2 holes there. Someone had put in an aftermarket A/C unit and that's where they routed the lines to the evaporator. I have aluminum tape covering the holes till I can get in there and weld a patch panel in...

Try the home store hardware section with the drawers of strange stuff. I don't know if any are big enough, but there are round pop in sheet metal plugs that I've used to make some holes less obvious...

If you want a quick fix, get a household door handle blank-off plate. Similarly, there is a round plastic plate available to protect your wall where door handles hit.

No hole there from factory. The auto paint supply shops around here have racks with misc trim parts on them with an assortment of plugs & such.An old style NAPA might be able to help,if you can find someone who can use a parts book.........................Bob

An electrical supply house will have what is called an "oil tight hole seal" http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT...59556&PMT4NO=0
looks like:

made from steel and can be painted to match.

Exactly what I am going to do ..I remembered from my construction days seeing these in electrical panels . You beat me to it as I was going to go today and try and get one of these Fleet72 and show all what I came up with..thanks for the pictures .
Rather than burn up my new paint with a patch and weld this works just fine with me .
I will do my Vinegar trick to galv. on the engine side of the cover and then under coat it and paint it the truck color ..

It will be my conversational cover up story about my truck..LOL thanks again all of you for the replies..gp

The oiltite ones are painted so a quick light sanding and paint sticks quite well to them. I just filled a few holes in a control panel where knobs used to be. I had the local auto paint shop match the color and put it in aerosol cans, now I have touch up paint in a can for any work I have to do on the panel.
