How to install new fender emblems
Dumb Question - I have some new front fender emblems that I might install. How do I get behind the front fender to install the clips? Is there an easy way, or some trick I need to know?

You may be able to get to them by taking the inner fenders off. Never have tried it with the fenders on the truck.

I got some push in clips at the hardware store just like the ones the tailgate handle bezel is held on with. They work great . No way to use the original type unless you take the fender off.
|
I have heard of those push ins but have never seen them. I heard that they would work.

The aftermarket ones have barrell nuts. The easiest way is to remove the wheel liners. When I replaced mine I was able to squeeze my forearm in there on the passenger side and get the nuts on. The drivers side is a pain. I was only able to get the front nut on. I never bothered putting the rear nut on and it's been tight!

If your a real contortionist you can get them on with out removing the inner fenders, I did

one thing that works well when you can't get to the back side of the fender is to put a dab of silicone on the studs of the emblem place the emblem in place and put a piece of masking tape over the emblem to hold it on the fender till the silicone cures... great way to keep the emblems on...and they won't rattle if your panels vibrate.

funny to see this post today because i just put a drivers front fender on this afternoon and had hell getting all the bolts that go around the fenderwell back in...in fact i could only get about half of them.....afterwards i was thinking how much of a pain it was going to be to put all the emblems back on after painting it....never thought about silicone or getting some other type of clips
