11 years in the making- 70' SS
Hey guys, this was my original project vehicle. Been working on it for 11 years as I got it for a father/son project when I was in heading into my freshmen year of high school. 11 years come and go when you scour countless junkyards and attend numerous auto swap meets. This summer we finally got it going. It has been a thrill to drive this with my father as he was the one who put the passion for restoration in my head. There are several things if I could do it all over again, that I would do different, but this project and of course my trucks, have taught me how to do a lot of restoration detailing that you just can't read about until you succeed and fail. The car is an original SS 454 ls5, th400, cowl induction car. Right now, it's all about enjoying it and finishing small details. Just thought you might like to see what else I spend money on, besides GAS! Trevor

Re: 11 years in the making- 70' SS
Car looks good man! You will always look back and wish you would have done this or that different. That's the good thing about working on cars and trucks is you can drive it that way for a while, and then go back and change those things if you feel the need.
You and your dad have a great reason to be proud! Cruise that thing and wear the road out!!!! |

Nice SS. I had 2 over the years. First was an LS6 with m22 and 4:10 gear car. Cranberry red black stripes black buckets and console. Unreal power. That was in 1979.
Second one was in 1986. SS396. L34 with m21 and 3.31 gears. Also cranberry red but with white stripes and black bench interior. Not as brutal. More refined but still super fast. Thanks for the memories!!!! |

I bow to thee. |
Re: 11 years in the making- 70' SS
Beautiful Chevelle. I bet it is silly fast.
I was reading over your (impressive) collection...didn't you used to have a 96-98 ecsb on 49s, or was that somebody else? |
Re: 11 years in the making- 70' SS
Thanks guys for the comments, they are greatly appreciated after the blood, sweat, tears, and of course $$$$ that it takes to restore a muscle car. I think I am better at restoring trucks as you can still find used parts to restore.
On a side note, yes I still have my big 96' Silverado. It is parked just inside that big garage door on our "Rat House". Trevor http://inlinethumb46.webshots.com/18...600x600Q85.jpg |

Very nice! I grew up around chevelles, my dad having had several of them. He even runs a couple of chevelle related sites. They are a blast.

Trevor, very nice car! That is pretty sweet to get that as a father son project! The final product was well worth it in the end! Great job!

Re: 11 years in the making- 70' SS
Beautiful work Trevor.
My FIL came back from Vietnam in '69 and picked up a '69 SS396 (non-air) Chevelle and still kicks himself today for selling it. Back they they were just a means of transportation. :) |
