installing notch with bed on?

Anyone installed their c-notch with the bed still on the truck? I was hoping not to have to pull it off since I am out of garage space.

dont have to completely remove it... but it makes it easier.

undo the bolts and put some 4x4s or ? stacked blocks between the frame and bed to raise the bed off the frame

you will still need to unhook misc. stuff

At least raise it. Trying to do it with it on is double the work.

I've done it three times. Just more of a pain.

My last one was about 7 including 4 hours in the er from using a cutting wheel one handed. I would guess around 3 if you have good sharp bits to drill the holes.

I did mine with the bed on, 2 guys, 2 grinders, 2 drills, 4 bits (2 smaller ones for pilot holes and 2 - 1/2") And a rubber Mallet. Took us 2 hours from marking and cutting to bolting the notches on.

Well hopefully I'll get some time Friday or Saturday to get started on it, I'm hoping it takes less than 1/2 day. It's a western chassis notch and the instructions say I dont have to take the bed off, we'll see

Take the bed off. It's a quick and simple job.

Adam, my C10 WC notch goes above the frame rail, and bolts to the top of it as well...bed HAD to come off, or be elevated with blocking quite a bit to drill the holes and run the bolts in.

Adam, call a couple guys and lift the bed. I would say come up here but I have to be at the shop extra to prep for our annual corporate inspection.

I might see if I can get it to the farm and use the skid, but that leaves me working in the dirt. I've got trucks, and quads in the shop now getting mounts for plows.

I think that goes over the top, and the "C" flares out, towards the wheel.

If you have an engine hoist at home, maybe you could just lift teh bed enough to get some room
