valve cover gasket?

i am replacing my valve cover gaskets but the problem is the old ones are stuck on the valve cover pretty good. i have gotten some of it off with a screw driver but i was wondering if there is a better way to do it?

I would use toluene or MEK either one of these items will soften the gasket where you could remove it. They also make products for gasket removal aids.
