Is this a 67 327?
2 Attachment(s)
I'm looking st a parts pickup that the guy say's has the original 327 in it? My gut feeling says not so. Can you tell me. I'm not seeing a suffix code like most have. The number in front of the head is #MA06289.
Thanks, Dennis |
Re: Is this a 67 327?
is that the code on teh back of the block or the front the one on the back is what tells

Re: Is this a 67 327?
i will also say a stock 327 in 67 had and oil filler tube in the intake
|
Re: Is this a 67 327?
The filler tube missing is what I was worried about.
The number is from the pad in front of the passenger head. Shouldnt it have a prefix showing what plant, then the date, then the suffix showing the group. Or was it differant for 67 |
Re: Is this a 67 327?
The spid shows it came with a 327, Tach, buckets, tinted windows, 4:11 rear etc

Re: Is this a 67 327?
MA codes as the following.
MA 1958 283 H.D. m/t 160 2 trucks MA 1963 283 Powerglide 175 2 trucks MA 1967 327 manual trans. 210 2 Camaro And unless I'm incorrect.. "M" suffix was for GM of Mexico. J. |

Re: Is this a 67 327?
I want the 67 327 for another 67 with the wrong engine. It has a 350. I could take a chance it's a 67 engine, buy it and sell the other part's off the pickup to cover the purchase price. I'll know the engine's year from the date stamp on the backside.

Re: Is this a 67 327?
What does the harmonic balancer look like?It definitely has had the intake and valve covers changed because it has a pcv valve, too.Isn't it supposed to be in the front on the left side, like the vc is flipped? Not sure about the codes with none in front of me,but what would be a correct suffix?I can almost detect a "T" there.Couldn't say why it's not stamped clearly and it could (very likely) be my imagination.

Re: Is this a 67 327?
Special-k,
Your right. I can see PVC in the picture now.I didn't look at the ballancer and it's 100 miles away. Also ite water pump almost looks like a long style. I think that started in 69. Still might be an ok buy at $700 |
Re: Is this a 67 327?
You want to see a PCV connection on the top of the block BEHIND the intake manifold. If you don't have that, the engine is 68 or later. Btw, the PCV on the block doesn't guarantee that you have a 327, only that the block is 67 or earlier.
For positive verification that you have 327, you will need to see the casting number, also on the top rear of the block behind the intake. Ray |
