Re: Transmission help?
700r4, tv cable brakets linkage, transmission yoke, and as stated a proper lenth driveshaft. Getting a used trans yoke an save you some money. Good luck.

Re: Transmission help?
You can get one from a S-10 with a 4.3. There are plenty around and cheep. I have one behind my 402 and I tow. Had it for years with no problems. Some years are better then others but I cant remember. Sucks getting old. Good luck.

Re: Transmission help?
The early 700s are junk, and will not hold up to much horsepower or towing. The late 80s or early 90s are the better ones. In 1990 they were renamed 4L60 and had a lot of improvements. In 1993 they became the 4L60E and the shifts were controlled by the engine computer.
You might want to consider a 2004r overdrive which is the same length as the TH 350 so you won't have to shorten the drive shaft. The TH 400 has a different yoke on the tailshaft so you will have to change that either way you go. They used the 200s in a lot of caprices, Monte Carlos, and Buicks. Some police cars used them as well. Go to the top of this page and type 700 r4 conversion in the box next to your PM box, click the little circle button by 67 to 72 chevy trucks, then click the google tab and you'll get several threads that will give you all the info you need. Then do the same thing for the 200 4r and you can compare the two and decide what you want. |
Re: Transmission help?
Thanks alot, I will look into that for sure. Do you happen to know what the big differences in the 700s vs the 200s are?
