another newbie
Hi every one I finally got on the site, picked up a 70 c20lwb a couple of weeks ago its a runner but needs some tlc and other stuff. I am still trying to figure out what's up with this beast, it has a 305 with a qjet that's not quite right . My plan is to return it back to stock as possible on my budget pics will follow

Re: another newbie
Good lookin' truck.
Those carbs weren't too bad,(even though I did swtich mine out for a Holley 750, jetted to a 700 because I simply got tired of rebuilding the guad). I would suggest a complete rebuild on the carb, by someone that truely knows the carb. The dear little things just get old befor their time and generally need some rework. Make sure the vacume advance is in good shape too,(lots of Folks overlook this when they tune an engine). Basically, the better you can get the engine to breath, is the better it will run. I've been finding this out dealing with chevy small blocks for about 20 years now. So far, the 327ci is my favorite followed closely by the 350ci that my C20 is sporting now. Michael |
Re: another newbie
it does look pretty good in the picture but its a 15 footer , currently I am dealing with the shift linkage , I just replaced the bushing on the column shift arm and it needs a little adjustment now , and trying to figure out whats been done to this truck over the last 40 years , the old q-jet is not really matched up for the 305 in there as it has no choke and is old and dirty , but until I can get some cash together it runs ok for now . the wiring is suspect it needs a new horn button and for it to be hooked up the fuse box is a mess the list goes on and on , this site has been a great resource so far . any body have a link for a manual?

Re: another newbie
take the camper, rear bumper, and the mirrors off and it would look way better!

Re: another newbie
The mirrors are frigging huge on this one but if I am trailering they go way out, and the camper is going to stay on till I can paint the plywood I have in the bed.
