Header clearence w/pics
5 Attachment(s)
I put on the Hedman 69640 headers. There is about 3/16" of an inch of clearence at the closet spot on the frame rails. Do you think they will come in contact with the frame under torque? The motor is pretty mild build w/vortec heads on it.

Re: Header clearence w/pics
probably. it depends on how good the rubber in the mounts are

Re: Header clearence w/pics
i'd put a torque strap on the driver side to limit torque movement and not worry after that

Re: Header clearence w/pics
that or go ahead and hammer the throttle hard and get it over with

Re: Header clearence w/pics
I had a cheap set of patriot headers on mine and they were about the same distance from the frame and I never had any issues with them comtacting the frame. They were only on for about 6 months before going back to the ram horns because of leaks at the collector.

Break out the die grinder or in my case, the plasma cutter...1/4" plate and boxed the frame...I really wanted to run those Chevelle manifolds, lol....

Re: Header clearence w/pics
I would not worry about it. If it hits I would say your motor mounts need replaced or you have alot of ponies and very sticky tires. Thanks for posting the pics of that header. I had a post asking if people had used these and didn't get much response. I'm going to get these in the elite series with the ball and socket connector and coated. They look like they fit well to me and the elite have a 3/8 flange at the motor, so shouldn't leak with any luck. Are the plugs easy to get at?

Re: Header clearence w/pics
I would be happy if my headers would have fit like that(lol). I would also not worry. If it does hit, all it will do is put a ding in the header, and eventully it wont hit no more. I think that would look better than trying to dent the header or cutting on the frame
