Engine id on a 68?
 

I know the newer 69-72 trucks had the engine ID by the marker light but did a 68 have anything like that? for say a 327?

Not in 68. In 69-72 it could be under the marker light, or under the fender badge depending on which engine you had. If you had an optional engine it would be 292, 350, 396, or a 400 emblem. There was also a 366 or 427 emblem for the bigger trucks.
