Corp 14 bolt questions.

I have a 14 bolt out of a 3/4 ton truck with 3.73's in it and I have another one out of a dually with 4.56's in it.
The question is if I can take the gears out of the dually housing and put them in the truck housing.
Both are in good shape and both are complete. I know the dually housing has some differences externally but will the gears interchange?

Thanks. Would you know if you need a housing spreader to get the career out? I'd like to do it myself if I can.

I'm not sure how to go about switching the gears myself but I do have a corp 14 bolt question if you dont mind.

Mine is a 10.5" ffa w/ 4.10 gears but I can't find out for sure whether it is an open diff, lsd or gov lock. I believe its open but am not experienced enough to tell and i dont have a jack to lift it and spin the wheels. Is it possible to tell visually? I've done extensive searching and have come up blank :/ I would like to know so I know what type of lubricant to put in there.

Here are a couple of pics.. thanks guys.

Yes, that's am open diff. I use Royal Purple gear lube in mine.
Nice rig, by the way.

Just swap the hubs and brakes out between the two the axle tubes are the same width.

Thank you sir, now I can button it back up :) I got the green machine to learn how to fix break fix stuff and am having a blast - these boards have been a godsend!

I will go w/ the RP as you've prescribed and hopefully next time I am opening the diff it will be to put in a lsd :) Right, what weight do you use? The options are 75W90 75W140 80W90 85W140 90

ps. subscribed to your build

I think it was the 80W90 but its been years since I changed it, prob should do that to. I have a Detroit Locker in mine and love it, some people don't like them because they will engage as you go around corners under power and cause the tires to chirp. I don't mind it.

But the spring pads aren't, right? I'd rather just swap the gears then cut the spring pads off and relocate them.

No case spreader needed on a 14 bolt.

Depending on your skills and tools, I would prob just cut and change perches. Good time to correct pinion angle if lowered of lifted

Thanks again for your impute. Think I'll just do that, cut the perches off. The dually rear end is in better shape anyways.

Thanks for everyone's impute on this but I had a big change in plans. I'm going to convert my 84 DRW to SRW and build my child hood dream of having a monster truck.:metal::lol::metal::lol:
So I'm going to sell these axles for funding. Thanks again for your impute.
