Photo of factory saddle tank needed.
 

Had a buddy scrapping a 69, went to pick through the pile. It had 2 saddle tanks. One was toast. One looks ok, maybe. Wondering if this would work on my 67 3/4 4x4 longbed. What I don't get, is it seems to have a return line, a 69 wouldn't have had that would it? Hoped someone here had a photo of one on the ground.

Cool. Thanks. This saddle tank isn't as bad as I thought it might be. holding water at the moment. Can't figure out where it's supposed to mount. May not work on a leaf spring rear?

Here is a slightly different style from a different vendor. These tanks were sold as an aftermarket item by dealers and dealer installed after you bought the truck from them. The same as the step bumpers that look almost alike but are different because different vendors in different parts of the country made them and probably sold them regionally.

This came out of a 69 3/4 ton that was originally sold in the Pacific North West.

The tank you have pictured is a factory installed one.. the one in the first picture posted is an aftermarket.. looks to be one manufactured by "travel tanks"

This is the tank I took off the 69. Must be a later model?

Yes, That is a 73-87 tank..

I'm guessing a sending unit for that tank would read wrong? Not sure it will fit on the 67 anyway, although it's getting a flat bed, so filler would be easy enough.

This is the same tank I have factory installed from the Fremont plant.

Not to hi jack but has anyone replaced or refurbished these travel tanks?

Mine are full of rust and would like to see what others may be doing to get these re-done.

Any help is appreciated

I too had the same issue, I checked into having mine boiled out, the quote was $125.00 and was told that it may not survive due to the rust and crud and we would end up with "pin holes" , It would more that likely need to be coated with a sealer.
So I opted to have it sent out and have it "cloned" only this time made with aluminun instead of sheetmetal..
I got lucky and found an NOS aux pickup/sending unit on ebay..

Wow that thing is sweet and I'm afraid to a$k!!!

Dropped it today and it needs help. Supposed to have my Radiator guy check it out. I'm hoping for the best. I found one at justtanks for about 7 big ones. Ouch.

Mark, neat set up... you need to make those and sell them. Mucho dinero I suspect.

Paul, I had pondered on having more made and selling them.. But I really do not want to get into the "parts business" My holdup is I simply do not have the time for marketing, packaging and shipping.
Having one manufactured like the one pictured is not a problem (the aluminum one is a bit different as it does not have the "bump" on the top like the original for a 72 fuel return line).
The biggest issue is finding a factory AC Delco sending unit, (I got lucky and found one on ebay)
I didn't think it was that expensive, the tank was $375 and the sender was $80
