What's wrong with my mirror?

This thing rattles like crazy. The base is still secure to the truck.

inside the door is a bracket shaped like a question mark...one on each door... are they installed?

Yeah under the door panel. The bracket links the back of the mirror and outer door skin to the inner door skin for extra strength.
