dual fan setup??
I have seen then ones that vendors on the board sell, but has anyone ever used fans from a donor vehicle? I was told by a wise mechanic, that you could use dual fans from a dodge caravan for this upgrade. Has anyone done this on a 67-72?

I HAD A BUDDY RUNNING THEM ON A CAMARO. WORKED FINE. IN FACT, I HAVE THEM NOW. I'M JUST NOT RUNNING THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO WIDE. THEY WENT A LITTLE PAST MY FINNED AREA AND ONTO THE TANKS ON THE RADIATOR. SO THEY WOULDN'T SIT FLUSH. IF YOU WERE LOCAL I WOULD GIVE THEM TO YOU. I'VE BEEN SITTING ON THEM FOR A WHILE. JUST A NOTE I'M RUNNING AN AFTERMARKET RADIATOR(GRIFFIN), WITH A SINGLE FAN AND A THERMOSTAT. NEVER GOT HOT YET.

I have the radiator and fans out of a 94 camaro.

Do you think the camaro setup would work with the stock truck radiator....?

It is almost exactly the same size.

It is about 18" tall by 25" wide by 5-1/2" deep. I have the 94 camaro radiator in mine...all I had to do was move the radiator supports (parts with rubber in them) out a little.

Someone mentioned in the past that lated 80's to early 90's Furd Taurus use a 2 dual speed fans. Have also heard that Lincoln Mark IV's have a very powerful setup. Check out this link http://www.geocities.com/smithmonte/...rkVIII_Fan.htm

Anyone have a wirng diagram for a dual fan setup? Seems like you should run a 20 amp inline fuse from each fan, have it hooked to an thermostat and an in cab switch?? |
I got 2 fans from a chevy lumina, earlly 90's, they move a lot of air! made my own brakets cause they're set in some plastic crap but they work great. when I hit the switch if its hot idleing it goes from 200 to 180 in less than a min and keeps dropping after. You need a heavy duty relay, when you get the fans hook em up with an old ammeter to see the draw, then you'll know what relay and fuse to get. Good luck!

I'd also put a relay in the circuit to each fan, that way you aren't putting a huge current through your thermostat/switch or trying to thread heavy guage wires through your bulkhead.
The single electric fan in my truck (from something Japanese!) was fitted by the previous owner and was wired without a relay. One day I put my hand up behind the dashboard switch (no thermostatic controller yet) in traffic and found that the switch contacts were too hot to touch due to the huge current drawn by the fan going through the switch. Also when turned off the fan would windmill in the ram air coming in the grille and act as a dynamo and light the switch up...weird! I think Wes has posted a wiring diagram up here before, I'd jsut do a search on electric fan and see what threads you get. |

I think that picture of the dual fan setup is sold by www.classicheartbeat.com as a kit. I think Im gonna go that route with my truck.

Right now mine goes WHAAAAAAAAAA! I heard an electric one come on once and it went WHrrrrrrrrr. Hope that helps.
Do electric fans help with mpg? |
I heard they also help with a small HP gain
