I finally have my 72 C10 back from paint jail and Im having one heck of a time getting the spedo cable onto the gauge cluster. Im doing something wrong but I can not figure out what.........please help! There has to be a trick to this that im not aware of.

Are you reusing the one you took off??....is it long enough? not trying to be a wise guy, but it screws in to the back...is the metal threaded housing on the speedo cable?

Maybe the inner cable needs to be rotated a bit in order to fit into the square hole in the speedo housing...?

If you haven't already I would disconnect the speedo cable housing from the transmission adapter, connect the cable at the instrument cluster then re-connect the cable at the transmission. That is the easiest way to make sure the internal cable is in place at both ends....
