Alternator light problem

I have a 1970 c10 truck. My problem is that when you turn the key onto the on position is it suppose to light up. But, it doesn't. It wont light up at all. Can somebody help me with this? :chevy:

Have you checked to see if the bulb is burned out? Might be all you need.

If that's not it, you may want to check the ground on the engine to cab behind the drivers side head. If it's not there install one. If it's there, make sure the connections are clean. Also check the negative battery to engine cable to make sure it has a clean connection.

I had an amp gauge that didn't work until I installed several ground straps for another electrical problem.

if your truck has the amp guage, then the alt light isn't supposed to light up at all.

I don't have an amp gauge. I got the alternator light to work now. I moved some bulbs around on the back instrument panel and it started working. Thank yall for the information. I appreciate it.
