$250 Crew Cab? Should I?

Hey all!
I usually lurk on the 60-66 board but I have been toying with the idea of building a 3/4 or 1 ton crew cab shortbed squarebody. I found a local guy with a 85? Crew Cab c20 that was a 454 4speed-now a roller, that has been hit in the front end and swiped the passenger side (just barely enough to ruin the doors but very minor). He wants $250 for the cab, doors, and title. It still has seats, glass, and some interior left but he has sold the dash, steering column, etc out of it. mainly all the plastic and trim. There is moderate damage to the passenger rear cab corner about halfway up and where the bed bounced off the back of the cab. Do you think it is worth fixing? Am I in over my head trying to get everything to line up again? Thanks for the help guys!

I saw that truck and wanted it but didnt have the cash. No idea why he parted it out. But without a frame id say 200 at tops. Looked like a nice truck before.

Scrap dealers here have ads offering $350 and up for any vehicle - would have engine and trans though.

A low price but it will be a more difficult project. I would spend a little more to get one that was an easier build. Of course, I have never tried to buy a crew cab, so maybe they are hard to find.

Pics would help, but if it`s not a total rotbox it`s prob worth it. I`d pay that for a solid cab for mine.

Starting a build with a bare cab would be a good way to nickle and dime yourself to death.

Unless you really, really, REALLY like scrounging for parts at Pull-A-Part and / or haggling with people at swap meets, start with a complete truck.

Re: $250 Crew Cab? Should I?

I sold my last crew cab for $250.Cab and front clip and frame. No bed or front doors.Did have seats and interior. No title. No drivetrain.Almost bought another cab and doors with title for $100.So $250 is decent with title.
