Hey guys I am restoring a 1972 c-20 pickup 4x4 and I have the original master cyllinder and booster. I have cleaned them all up and was wondering if it is worth rebuilding or should I just buy new. Here is a picture of what I have. Thanks for the help.

If the booster is working good I would leave it alone. I always start out working on brakes with a rebuilt or new master cyl. The old single type cyls. I do myself but the dual ones its better to get a reman.

I would guess it all depends on your defination of restoring.

I was not restoring my 72GMC C-20 (no 4x4) and redid my brakes, top to bottom, front to back, left to right w/all new or reman parts. Wasn't cheap, but brakes are not something I skimp on.

JMHO...FWIW...don t. ....

How does one know if the booster is any good? I have replaced all brake lines , calipers and wheel cylinders. Do I have to install it to test it?

You can't tell much without driveing it. Pull the checkvalve out & see if there are any fluids in the chamber then it needs replaceing. If it has been setting many years it probably needs replacement. Other then that it depends on what you want to do.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will check for fluid. If none, I will install it and see how it works. It is easy enough to remove if it is faulty.
