help with fuel pump
I pulled the leaky fuel pump (on a basic 350) but can't get the pushrod to retract far enough to allow the new one to go on. The instructions say to move the crank slightly and this will allow the pushrod to clear. What's the best way to move the crank?

Re: help with fuel pump
slide push rod up with fingers and theres a bolt hole in the front of block with a bolt in it
take bolt out and screw longer bolt in to hold rod in place. once pump is installed remove long bolt and put the one you took out back in. hope this has helped |

Re: help with fuel pump
Thanks guys, I'll give that a try. Also, would you use any additional gasket material other than the one that comes with the pump?

Re: help with fuel pump
Thanks everyone. I lifted it up with the pliers and threaded in a longer bolt to hold it. Had the pump installed in 30 mins. The pushrod wasnt stuck - just so slippery it was hard to tell.
Sure appreciate all the help. |
