I just looked and it might actually help you some. It seems it might be listed there under the camaro engines. Then again I am not an engine expert at all...so check it out. Hopefully the "gods" of the engines will answer you as well! :)

Stamping code V0821OKD

V= Flint, Michigan engine plant

08= August

21= August 21 build date

OKD is the suffix code but is not listed. Can you recheck last three letters?

I found several CAMARO engine codes with the "CKD" suffix.
CKD 1972 350 175 4bbl tur hydro trans
CKD 1973 350 200 4bbl tur hydro, Calif
CKD 1974 350 160 4bbl T350 NB2
CKD 1977 350 180 4bbl a/t, high altitude

I don't know what "NB2" means on the third listing. It would help narrow the possibilities if you could get the casting number of the block. It's almost impossible to do with the engine in the truck. The numbers are on back of the block on the driver's side, partially hidden by the distributor. If you lay across the engine and shine a flashlight down behind the intake manifold you should see them. You will probably have to remove some greasy crud unless the engine has been freshly built or painted.

The casting numbers will read something like 3970010, 3970041, etc. There are dozens and dozens of castings, and all will help you solve the mystery.

Sorry about missing the casting number. As I was composing my answer, you were adding info. The 3970010 is a nice block (High Nickel content).

A&P, Get the date code off the block. It's back by the casting number, only on the other side.

Re: need help with engine #s

A&P Here are all the possibilities. In order to narrow it down to one we must know the vin# of the original vehicle and what car it was.. Your engine was cast in Aug of 73 and installed in a 1974 vehicle.

CKD camaro 74 350 160hp 350trans vin code L
CKD camaro 74 350 185hp 350trans vin code K
CKD chevelle 74 350 160hp 350trans vin code L
CKD impala 74 350 160hp 350trans vin code L
CKD nova 74 350 185hp 350trans vin code K

Re: need help with engine #s

you got a 74 camaro 350 built in aug in flint put in the car in sept in lansing and delivered to cali. now im guessing this is a 185 hp motor cause it has the nb2 which is cali emissions, but you got a 10 block and thats the good news. I would pull a valve cover and check your heads, if it is a smog motor im guessing it might have the 1.94 valve 76cc heads but not sure. but you do got the good block so if you want some more power you might just need to find some heads. but thats what i got out of the numbers

Re: need help with engine #s

pulled valve covers and head #s are 333882 I also have a set of sbc heads #3986339x I think they have smaller cumbustion chambers, would they help this engine.

oldschool18 03-17-2012 10:40 PM

Re: need help with engine #s

the heads that are on it are 76cc 1.94's i think the other set you have are the same chamber size maybe 74cc but the valve size should be smaller maybe 1.74.......so I wouldnt put those on. the 1.94 76cc heads arnt bad heads but if you want to overhaul your motor someday you might want to upgrade, its all about the mighty dollar and how much you want to dump into it. in the meen time if you come across a good deal on a set of heads buy them.
