Lowering
 
I am new a member, I have a 1970 C10 LWB 350 vortec roller motor, th350, converted the front to disc brakes, i am planning on doing a build thread, anyways...
I am wanting to lower my 70 but not spend a lot, are those coil spring clamps ok to use? i want to see if i like the look and ride before i buy the springs. I was thinking bout doing either 2" front and 2" back or just 2" front to get a racked look, will i have to do any body or frame mods to do this? thanks guys!

Not sure about clamps but 2" drop springs are pretty cheap and easy to install. If it has the factory springs in it you might already have a 2" drop on it:lol: There are lots of threads and pics of drops on here....you should have no problem finding the right look for yours. Use the search option and find what look your after before you purchase anything...also make sure the person whose has that drop and product are happy with it. Good luck

I found on here that if you cut one complete round off your front coil it will lower exactly 2 inches. Half round cut off coil is 1 inch. Here is mine with one round cut off coil= 2 inch drop in the front. I bought 4 Inch lowered springs for the back with 1 inch lower block.

clamping the springs wont give you the same ride as a new pair of springs. i have also seen people cut the springs and that seems to work pretty good but i would cut 1/4 turn at a time until you get the drop you want because there are many different springs and they will all drop a little different it will take a little longer to do but you cant put it back ones you cut it off.

thats very true lol, i am contemplating it lol, im just afraid i wont like it lol, will the ride suffer?

it will change a little. the best way to lower the truck and not change ride to much is drop spindles cause they dont affect spring rate or how easy it is to hit bump stops.

Im running 20X8.5 up front with 245/45/20 tires and 20X10 on rear with 295/40/20. The ride is pretty good. I put all new KYG nitrogen shocks all the way around. The rear end has bottomed out if I put 400-500 pounds in the bed. Just make sure to keep your rubber stops in place! On regular stance the frame is about 3" from the frame.
Here is a pic to show the space between frame and rear end. Notice the bumper stop was still out;).

Got front and rear sway bar from CPP. Also the bent panhard bar from them. They make a great product but are sometimes slow about getting it to you. I can send more pics if you like. I'm by no means a profession, just a hobby that cant stop. I used to work at a body shop 20 years ago....but just love old cars and trucks.

Oh yeah, they make a huge difference. I can corner about as good as a sports car. All most no roll or dip in the front end.

71 c10 i used 3 inch belltech drop spindles and 2 inch cpp coils ,in rear 5inch coils only thing running 15inch wheels alot of grinding and it hits going down my driveway but on road its fun and drives and handle good
