Wide whites or narrow which do you like?

If there is a forum topic on this already please guide me to it I tried to look.

Which do you like for your 67/72? The wide white wall or the narrow?
I dont mind the look of the wide whitewall at all but I think it looks best (imo) on 40's to 50's era trucks. (No offence to the flat black paint crowd) The narrower whitewall on 60' to 70's it more in keeping with the production and time period. Not excluding red lines and the plain old blackwall.
There are no wrongs or rights it all comes down personal choice in the end.
Whats your take on this?
thanks
Madtat.

narrow is better on our trucks. Too new for fat whites.

Since you mentioned you aren't yet excluding blackwalls.... here's my personal tire pecking order for any stock-looking 67-72:

1) blackwall
2) blackwall
3) factory skinny ww

Agree with the above - www is for an earlier ear truck, probably at least pre-60. But again, it comes down to personal preference. When I was a kid, I was driving around on bald bias plies and my dad kept "reminding" me I needed new tires. Since I clearly couldn't afford them, once I had close to enough $, he ponied up the rest. I was so ecstatic that I even agreed to letting him go grab em from the tire shop while I was at work. I almost fell over when I came home and saw these tires on it (pic #1).... (not too bad, but still a little too wide in my humble opinion, but can't look a gift horse in the mouth, especially when it's dad! I really appreciated him helping me buy them). Personally, if you really want a whitewall, I think Pic #2 is just about right (and I think hubscrub's look great too). My 2 cents only, it really does come down to personal taste. But, I've never had a whitewall on a truck since then.

Depends on the look you are going for. Stock, the narrow white walls on a C or K10 are about the only choice. For a custom look I like redlines. Gold or blue work on some trucks too depending on the wheels.
If you don't know about them Diamond Back Classic Tires has a lot of solutions no matter your taste.

I like them all but the wide whites only look good on certain trucks IMO. I love all the medium ones that Rene puts on his trucks

My opinion, black or skinny on 69-72s. I do think wide whites can look good on 67-68s even though its not era correct. I like them!

^^^^ Ditto! After looking at them even though I not meaning to did not include that size ww in my original post (sorry) I can see where they look good. Not too big and not to thin...just right on the grooooooove.

Skinny. I love fat white walls, but think they look better on the fat fendered cars and trucks of the '40s and '50s.

Wide whites only look good on the right truck, kinda like lambo doors (just kidding). But narrow whites are easy to pull off and look good.

Hello all! Bumping this thread,

Where are you guys finding narrow white walls? I've been searching and can't find a manf. anywhere online unless its the $200 Coker or DB tires. I keep reading about these $60 narrow whites guys are getting and it's making me very jealous!

I like the narrow whites most, but C/10 King really rocks those mid size white walls on his trucks. I have to admit they look really good.

For 16 inch it seems like you are going to have to go to one of the specialty makers. Personally I would go with DB (Diamond Back) I like the fact that they use tires you get off the shelf like BFG etc and put what ever striping on them you want.

I had them do my redlines for my panel, and if I remember right they used Firestones.

You won't find whitewalls in 16". Whitewalls were and still re available in traditional sizes found on cars. 16" is traditionally a truck tire size and there never were white walls. Those would have to be custom made or bought from a specialty company...not cheap. And 16s always cost more than 15s anyway
