What do you guys think of this radio? I'm thinking about getting one since my trucks doesn't work and I'm getting sick of the quiet!

No idea how well it works, but it does look nice. I like that it's made to fit without cutting the dash.

Cool looking. Does the black plate hide the part that goes through the dash? If so, that's one of the nicer stock fit radios for that price, that I've seen.

I have no idea how well that one will work but I have bought and installed a "USA" type radio before. I was really excited to get it because I could finally listen to a good radio and I didn't have to cut my dash to install it. The thing turned out to be nothing but junk. I tried for a week to get the company that sold the unit to me to return my calls but they never did and I ended up throwing it in the garbage can. I didn't buy it from Classic Parts but I'm pretty sure the "USA" type radios are all manufactured by the same company and distributed all over the country.

They do look very nice but I've heard nothing but bad reviews. I've only seen a couple good ones.

I have a radio from Custom Autosound in my truck. Same kind of deal, don't have to cut the dash to install and looks somewhat factory. My self and people who have heard the stereo in my truck think it sounds good, plenty of power.

The idea behind those new technology radios to fit an old location is great, but from what I have read they don't seem to be very good.

I was going to go this route with my upcoming build but have since decided to cut my dash and smooth out the indentations where the nobs are that most of the time the trim ring on a new radio doesn't cover. Im picky about that kind of thing though.

I particularly like Hagan radios - 2nd link is another company I saved a link to, but I've never used them, so don't know if good/bad, I was just considering them at one time.
Might be worth checking them out.

I bought a similar looking one from JC Whitney. Installed it the other night and it fits really well. Seems to work fine, but I've only played it for maybe 15 minutes..

Wow seems like those guys have some nice stuff! They even have one for my 55' GMC. Out of my price range for now though....Think I may order the one I was looking at and if it's a POS then I'll send it back!

That one looks pretty nice too.....says they're backlogged, I don't know if I can go another 4-5 weeks without tunes though! :lol:

Just noticed this, if you look at the picture of the radio on the link I posted it says Custom Autosound on the top of the radio.

I spoke to a guy that had one a while back and he said its great. He had his ipod connected to it and sounded pretty good.

I had a custom autosound lasted 1 year, there a pain to deal with, i gave up and but my delete plate back in

I bet they could get one out faster then that they probably just say that to cover their ass, I mean how many can they be selling since it seems nobody's seen one installed yet.. :)

They also sell kick panel speaker with no speaker or you can get kenwood speakers in them or one other brand.
Just wish someone on here had one to now how good of a radio it is.

I have the RetroSound model one radio http://www.retrosoundusa.com/. The first one I got, had a problem. It would stop playing after a while. I called the company, they acknoweldged that there was a problem with some of their radios, instantly sent me a replacement and the new one works fine. Fit right in the uncut dash and imo looks great.

I also have the Retrosound Model One and really like it. They are just releasing the Model Two with bluetooth and ipod control. A little pricey but a nice head unit.

Man remember when you could just go buy a radio like a pioneer or Kenwwood that had 2 knobs and would just bolt right in place with no cutting or anything.
Did not have to worry about if it was a good brand and it was not "special " because it fit in a stock radio hole.

Feel like Iam just going to cut my dam dash then worry about one of these special radios, might as well cut holes in my doors as well for speakers...lol

i feel the same way, why is that radio worth 400$?, it doesn't even have a real lcd display, i mean honestly when you can compare what you can get from pioneer for 400$ it's no comparison. I know that they're made for the job and i don't mean to throw them under the bus but what makes the radio so special. I've been looking into buying one by the way because everyone thinks i should keep my dash pristine but i see no benefit except for MAYBE resale value.

I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd post a picture of my radio install. I didn't want to get rid of my original radio so another option was to order a nice system from Crutchfeild. They offer a radio holder and wiring harness for vehicles that they don't list as custom fit. I had to add two sheet metal screws and a back bracket to install it. It's worked out great for over five years and if the radio goes out, I can order just about replacement radio that fits the DIN rail mount.
