402 with Edelbrock Performer intake
Recently started over with a rebuild on my 402. Thinking of changing the cast iron intake because of coolant seepage thru the casting in one small area. Looking for opinions on the Edelbrock Performer on a stock rebuild.
Any issues with the way the heater hoses, vacuum lines, and throttle cable attaches? Going to stick with my Quadrajet. Any opinions and/or advise appreciated. Anyone with pics of the same set up, please share. Thanks in advance! |
Re: 402 with Edelbrock Performer intake
They're good for bottom end, worth a few ponies over stock anyway. They do look better then a cast manifold as well. If you're running stock heads with a stock cam a performer manifold will do just fine.

Re: 402 with Edelbrock Performer intake
Depending on what your doing in the rebuild. I would go with a matching cam to really improve the torque of that 402. I had a Monte Carlo with a 402 bb I ran a performer camshaft iirc it was around 512 lift. It pulled hard.

FYI. If you get a air gap make sure you the ARP 502 bolt set. They are a bit longer. You will need it. The air gap is a great intake too check it out.
