dana 60 wobble

i ve been reading alot about death wobble on dana 60s.my story is i purchased my 87 crew , and it had terrible wobble, scarey, and i have replaced alot of things, steering shock first, then steering box and drag link. new 4 in lift springs with new u bolts. my question is, could my king pins be worn enough to cause some wobble? it is not as bad as it was when i bought it, but i want rid of it completely!

Replace the kingpins, it's not hard or real expensive. Get a new washer, then use the old one to shim it up a little. It's usually the top that goes bad, the bottom has an actual bearing. If it turns real easy or has slop, time to replace it. If the kingpin itself is OK, don't worry bout replacing it. But if there is excessive pits or grooves, they are $10 each I think. been a couple years since I messed with one....I do have an extra 7/8" allen wrench of yah need....

B545rat hit the nail on the head. You have replaced everything else it should fix the death wobble you have.If not the last ditch will be a panhard bar but they make a kit for your truck.

I had death wobble, "89 dana 60", replaced the stock stabilizer and still had it. I put on a dual rancho stabilizer and it's solid as heck now. I will now be a checking kingpins though just in case. I also have the steering box strengthening kit but you might want to take a look there too as death wobble is real bad on the frame behind the box??

The king pins are probably good, it's the springs and poly bushings that really take the beating. Offroad Design sells the complete kit to do both sides for about 30 bucks or any GM or Dodge dealer should have the parts in stock. If your using a real heavy tire wheel combo or a tire above 35" tall you may want to look into a set of spring eliminator arms.

Here's a link to the kit I mentioned above, also if you do need the king pins they sell a complete rebuild kit that also replaces the lower bearing. http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog...ng-bushing.htm

i would also go with the 4wdfactory kit although i haven't installed mine though ha i also went with their socket that fits the kingpin as opposed to the allen key but i think either will work fine

if youre reallly cheap, a long lugnut will fit in it. then use a 7/8 box end wrench and a cheater bar.

Here are my results from using the lug nut trick. You can see it took the first two on the left to remove one K-pin and the third one I had to install a stud inside and cut it off because it was going to twist in half before the pin even moved. I won't use this method again, I will weld a plate to the pin and use a BFH and more heat (heat was used with the lug nut method)

Why not buy the correct 7/8" allen wrench? I got one for $10 at Fastenal. I have two that I will probly never use again....
