Re: custom rear bumper help
I am not sure but I think it is a late model (88-98) Chevy/GMC pickup or tahoe. If any one knows, please chime in.

Re: custom rear bumper help
its either a tahoe or a short box stepside from early 2000s. probably a tahoe thoe cuz i tried a stepside bumper on mine and it wouldnt fit

TBONE1964, that is definitley a 99-07 GM truck bumper.
Here is a pic of mine. I am guessing it was custom built, its a solid bar with a hitch built in. |
Re: custom rear bumper help
nice bumper MAYO . i like how solid it is.any body else have more photos please?!?

Re: custom rear bumper help
Am I the only person in the world that refuses to use a bumper hitch??
I have a factory sport bumper over a 2" receiver on my truck. |
Re: custom rear bumper help
No that's what I have now but I like the look of the bumper hitch and the more original factor of it as opposed to a reciever hitch

Re: custom rear bumper help
I like the Truck Mayo

Re: custom rear bumper help
I have pulled a lot of trailers over the years and like to use a hitch mounted to the frame instead of pulling with a bumper.
I like the ability to use a drop if I need to, to get the trailer more level. I just bought a '75 C-30 with a real heavy duty rear bumper, but I am going to install a receiver hitch to the frame under the bumper. I just feel more comfortable that way. |

Re: custom rear bumper help
I like a receiver too but its not only pulling that I want a good bumper.I also wantg something different than factory. I don't like the way they look and how it wraps around the sides of the truck.

Re: custom rear bumper help
First off show what you have. The factory step bumper is compact compared to some aftermarkets. If your wraps around then it is an aftermarket bumper. If you plan on doing towing then a receiver hitch is very strong and really the only way to go. I've made a couple of bumpers from 2x6 heavy box tubing and with finished ends they look better than a typical channel bumper. Plus they position nicely above a receiver hitch and give good flat protection.

Re: custom rear bumper help
This is my original bumper - factory step / hitch bumper (this is correct for trucks from the East Coast so far as I know)
