68 K10 Rear Springs
I have a 68 K10 long bed stepside that i am trying to replace the rear springs and lift the truck at the same time. I am getting mixed answers as to the actual length of the original springs. My originals went to the scrapper a long time ago due to broken springs. I am hearing that my truck should have 52" springs like the 69-72. These springs are way to short. Then I am read that it has 56" springs, tried them and the center pin is off by several inches. Now I have two sets of rear springs and still do not have my axle attached to the truck. I have contacted a spring maker and was told that the springs are actually supposed to be 58" eye to eye with the center pin in the center. Does anybody actually know where I can find out what my truck is supposed to have lengthwise for springs and where to buy springs? Really confused and wishing I hadnt thrown away the broken springs when I disassembled the truck.

Re: 68 K10 Rear Springs
My k10 swb still has the factory '68 tapered springs and it measures 58 in. eye to eye following the contour of the spring. The spring eyes are 3 in. wide and 2 1/2 in. wide at the centering bolt. The centering bolt is centered between the spring eyes. Hope this helps you out. If pictures would help let me know.

Re: 68 K10 Rear Springs
That helps a whole lot. Now I know what length spring to get. It also means I get to have them made to get the correct springs. Thanks for measuring your springs for me.

Re: 68 K10 Rear Springs
Or just bust off some rivets and make 52s fit.

Re: 68 K10 Rear Springs
Make sure you read 68 shortbox thread real good as to what he said about the width. 3 inch at the hangers and 2 1/2 over the axle. When I ordered springs for the 72 frame I got the ones that were supposed to fit but were 2 1/2 inch the full length.

Re: 68 K10 Rear Springs
I can machine bushings to fit the thinner springs at the hangers. That part doesn't bother me. I am just more concerned about the length. I am going to contact Eaton Springs and order my springs from there unless somebody knows of a better place to get them.
