Different steering wheels

Can someone tell me if the 73-87 steering wheels fit a 72 model? Modifications needed? What about 88 models up?

Yes. Pretty much any GM wheels up until they started putting air bags in them will fit fine.

It'll bolt onto the steering shaft, however, the horn may no longer function correctly. I tried a 2nd gen steering wheel on my 1st gen Blazer and couldn't get the horn to work right. Eventually put an original wheel back on. I think some folks just add an external horn button to avoid the hassle.

My '72 GMC came with a later-70s steering wheel and the horn worked as normal. I have no idea what was done, but I swapped an original wheel on directly.

Is Comfort-Grip the correct term for the wood wheel / aluminum 3 spoke steering wheel I've been seeing more of on here? My factory black wheel is shot and this might be the wheel I go with in the future. I have a 13" Grant on there right now.

Heck, my wheel is from a 70-81 Camaro or early Chevelle.

Sometimes with the newer wheels, you may have to convert to the newer style cancel cam/horn button system. All of the parts are cheap and readily available.

I just put one on my truck from LMC Truck catalog and they call it a Classic Wood Steering Wheel.

I used to think that too until I tried to put a 65 Corvair wheel in my 66 Chevelle. The shaft is alot smaller on the Corvair so no go.

Just thought I'd toss that out there in case anyone wanted to put a Corvair wheel in. They are a nice looking wheel too. :(
