Header ?

I am going to replace my headers with a set of new ceramic coated ones, how do I determine what length I have, rest of exaust is new so want to keep length the same.Thanks.

Re: Header ?

Unless you buy the exact same headers you have now but ceramic coated you'll most likely have to modify your exhaust to make it work. Most header manufacturers have different collectors, collector sizes, and mostly likely the lengths will be slightly different.

OK,thanks.I was hoping there was,from lack of a better term,"industry standard"for lengths.

Re: Header ?

As far as I know there are three standard sizes. Shorties, mid length and long tubes. A y pipe from brand "x" will not bolt to the headers of brand "y" in most cases without a different flange

What's your exhaust set up? I'm new to older trucks (if that makes sense lol)

Why not just have your current headers cleaned and coated?

Certainly an option but there is not a big price difference between having mine blasted/coated vs a new coated set from Hedmann.

Re: Header ?

Run a piece of string from the flange to the collector then measure it to get the lenth. If you get something close it will make it easier to hook it up. No two headers are the same, maybe close but not exact, even same brand and part number.
Long tubes for a small block will be around 28-30" long.
