Would be a lot cheaper to rebuild your 700r4.The t56 was never offered as a 4x4 trans so only way to do it is to use a divorced t case. With the divorced t case you'll have to make a mount to hold it have both driveshafts remade and a short one from the trans and the t case.

I see the could I make that 700r4 bullet proof or have to go with another tranny like a 400?

T56 4wds have been done and can be done without a divorced t case are currently being sold by rsgear for a not so low price, i've researched this for a very long time lol and may eventually build one. I would have to look at all the info i've gathered but from the most part it was just taking off the tail housing then making your own adapter to connect to whatever t-case only problem is the spline count if you wanted to keep say.... the 241 in your suburban you would need the chevy ssr mainshaft which is 32spline as a t56 was offered in that heavyweight of a car/truck/thing which makes me think a t56 would do fine in a 4wd, just search ssr t56 and read on and on and on.

cause i got the 96 z28 just there waiting to be fixed i would need to swap out the motor but i think it would be nice to have a 6 speed in the burban just to cruise take it to the beach not really to pull or anything just long drives n stuff
