Engine stamp pad help?

V1022TDR - Flint, October 22, 1972, 350, 175 HP, Auto trans, 4 barrel

Does the 1972 designation mean the engine was built in 1972 or that it belonged to a 1972 year model vehicle? Do we know if it is a 4 bolt? It seems that this may be a correct engine for my 1972 Blazer. But it has no VIN derivative on the pad. Did all trucks have VIN's on the pad? What possibilities are there for this one not having one?

Re: Engine stamp pad help?

The engine code on the pad does not correspond to the VIN of the vehicle. It is when the engine was built. Only way to know if it is a 4 bolt is to pull the pan. But according to the suffix code... it came in trucks... so more than likely it's a 4 bolt.
