Who makes the best vinyl floor mat?

I had originally bought black carpet for my truck but I think I want to use the vinyl floor mat instead. Who make the best quality/fit mat? Any pics would be great! Thanks.

Re: Who makes the best vinyl floor mat?

I bought one a few years ago, can't recall where I got it, but I wasn't ready to install it so I stored it in a dry shed for a year or so. When I unrolled it, it was dry rotted and worthless and I threw it away.

So when I bought another new one last year, I was very concerned about quality. Did some research and bought from Wes, but he was out of stock and had one drop-shipped to me from Brothers. Appearance and fit was excellent, just like OEM, and I'm hoping to get several years of use from it.

I've had mine since 2005 and it looks and fits great. It came from Classic parts (Chevyduty) but that's been a while ago. I'd also check with Wes and other board vendors. I doubt there are very many manufacturers of these mats though

I bought one for my dads 71 GMC from LMC in 07 and it still looked good when i sold it last year. Another member on here has the truck now but i forget his handle. Granted we only put around 3k miles on the truck in 5 yrs, but i dont think using them is what wearsthem out. Some brands seem to be made from inferior rubber.

Get the Mil mat from LMC. It is a full coverage mat even under seats. It is thicker then original.

I hate to put anyone down, but I would not buy another rubber mat for our trucks ! I purchased one from Brothers less then two years ago, the first one shipped did not even come close to fitting, they did replace it with a correct one ASAP but the dimmer switch hole was way off position? Now I have noticed a long tear in the center of the transmission tunnel? And this is a low hump floor? Also no one has sat in the car other then me and I don't put my feet on the tunnel ever ? I think the rubber today is just plain crap period! I am building a 71 K-10 now and would prefer it to have a rubber mat, but I think I will go with carpet and get a good set of mats to protect the carpet . Also I feel that rubber mat holds moisture underneath and promotes rust, JMO......:metal:

I bought one from Classic this summer. It is thick and required trimming on all sides and all holes. Full coverage, high hump version. Good so far. Good Luck!

Good topic! I have the original mat but it is slightly torn.

After 2 carpets I too am staying with the mat. I bought the real rubber one from Brothers because a vinyl one I purchased for my 72 Blazer CST was cheap feeling/looking, but I think the key is to be sure to buy the padding too. My Suburban still has most of the original pad, but I went ahead and bought the new soundproofing with it.

As far as I know, AT THIS TIME, there is only one manufacturer and it is the cheap one. The molding and texture is crappy on them. Someone correct me if I am wrong... I finally found an older stock one that looks good.

Mine got all dry rotted and cracked after about 2 years. For the cost of these, I expected alot more than this.

Typical repro junk!

If Wes carries them I would go with him.

Well Leon, like I posted above, the one I got from Brothers (through Wes) appeared to me to be very good quality, and seemed to be just like the original one. Of course I removed the original many years ago and my memory could be playing tricks on me. Before I bought it I expressed my concerns to Wes about poor quality mats and he assured me he had not been getting complaints on the mats he sells.

It fit perfectly (high hump) and only needed minor trimming where the seat bolts to the floor. The real test will be how it holds up over time (I just installed it last summer) so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I also laid down new padding & soundproofing under the mat.

I'm happy with mine. I got it from site vendor Capt Kaos. Thicker and heavier than the production version. It's been 4 years now with no issues.

Only thing is mine is an '87, and I'm not sure if he has them for '67-72, but worth checking.

I bought a Brother's high hump. The rubber looks good and it fits the high hump well but the seat bolts were out by a mile and it isn't a full cover (doesn't cover under the seat).

So now I'm looking for a something for under the seat but maybe I should just pick up a full mat somewhere else.

You might be able to see in this picture the seat bolts are the bump under the rug closer to the door. Off by about 5 inches.

67-72 trucks did not originally have a mat that covered under/ behind the seat. Not sure if anyone makes a mat that does.

And...
It wasn't only the rubber mat trucks. Here's a picture of the original carpet from my 69. A top of the line CST with buckets no less. No carpet, pad or other soundproofing of any kind under the seats. Notice it was also trimmed away under the sill plates.

Re: Who makes the best vinyl floor mat?

Yeah easy to forget how plain-jane trucks were even recently.

My 1997 top of the line Suburban had an electric 6-way seat on the driver's side only.! How cheap.!

For my '67, I'm going to get one of those full vinyl mats I saw on another post and use it to cover the under seat area because I've put down the silver sound proofing and it's not tough or very good looking.

I'm currently shopping for a new vinyl floor for my '72. Most of the threads I found by searching were years old. Any current recommendations or reviews?

Re: Who makes the best vinyl floor mat?

I bought a rubber work mat from Home Depot and cut it to fit. It's thick stuff and tough but you have to be okay with some pie cuts under the dash.

Brothers, Classic Industries, LMC, and others have them for sale, but does anyone have a better quality product or price? I would like it to have the pattern of the original floor also if possible (see photo above). Looking for recommendations from those that have bought and installed.

The last mat I bought was from Brothers, after 5 years it still looked like new. I would buy it again if needed. The pattern looked identical to the original one I removed and the fit was very good.
