undecodable gmc vin
i have tried decoding this vin with every decoder i could find on the internet with no luck. i took it to a gmc dealership and they couldnt tell me much about it. i believe it to be a 1970, i was told it had a factory installed 327 when i got it, but i cannot find any information on any of these trucks having that motor in them. however, this truck has been in the family since new and the motor has never been swapped. i cannot find any sort of engine code on the motor niether. any help would be very much appreciated!!

Interesting...according to GMC Paul's decoder [http://www.gmcpauls.com/67-72_gmc.htm] your truck is as follows:
C= 2wd E= V8 gas 1= 1/2 ton OD= wideside (fleetside bed) P= Pontiac, Mi. ass'y plant B= 1968 everything else= serial # if it is indeed a '68, the 327 could be stock. if it is a '70, i don't think 327's were any longer an option. |
Welcome to the board. Is alabama one of the states that don't require a title? what about your registration papers...the year should be on your papers somewhere.
327s were not installed in 70 trucks. That stopped in 68 I think. |
Where in Alabama are you? Welcome to the board from your neighbor in Mississippi!

GMCrazy the truck VIN is for a 1968 GMC, 1969GMC decoded the VIN correctly.
