69 seat?
1 Attachment(s)
Is this what the 69 fuld forward seat looks like?
Is the 69 seat different from a 72 seat in any way besides the fact that it folds forward? |
Re: 69 seat?
I don't think '69 bench seats fold forward. Mine doesn't and it looks different than that anyway, and I'm pretty sure it is stock

Re: 69 seat?
I understand one year the seats folded forward, not sure what year but this truck is suppose to be a 69..
Anybody else?? Thanks!! |
Re: 69 seat?

Re: 69 seat?
That is a '67 seat. Looks exactly like mine. Only '67 seats fold forward maybe some early '68s as reported by members here. The fixed seat back was part of a federal safety regulation that also included : no more "small back window" and added mandatory side markers front and rear.

Re: 69 seat?
That is most likely a '67 seat, that folds forward.
Now I converted my '72 seat to fold forward using parts from a '67 seat. The differences are in the pivot location/front bolt (on the fixed seats). And the foams are all the same shape. |
Re: 69 seat?
Thanks for the help guys, i can pick this seat up for $75, and actually the cover isn't ripped but its a recover and i have no idea if the foam is stock but it feels pretty soft. I figure if this is a 69 truck the owner swapped it out for the 67.
I was debating getting it even if i cant use it as i hear there sought after for people wanting to remove the cab gas tank, but if i can make my seat fold i may just do it! |

Re: 69 seat?
I have a 72 and the seat does not fold forward. Sure wish it did though as I am always wanting to get in behind the seat for something.

When i installed the new cover on the seat, i modified the cover to not cover the upper attachment arms. When reassembling it, i installed the two bolts back into the lower without threading them through the upper and let the upper arms rest on the bolts. I have yet to drive the truck nmuch but well see how it works out. |
Re: 69 seat?
No I didn't, I'll have to go look and see.
My seat is a full foam seat, and the '67 seat back was springs, so just swapping back frames wasn't an option. (plus there were some other differences that I don't remember). But if I recall correctly I did some measuring first to see how much the location difference was between the tilt pivot and non-tilt bolt holes. I cut the lower arms off of long off of the 67 seat, so I could grind to fit. Then I removed the cover, drilled holes in my '72 seat base where needed then I bolted the '72 seat frame back together. Then positioned the cut arms where the new pivot holes were to be and cut and ground till the cut was located in an acceptable place. Then I scribed on the '72 frame where to cut the back frame arms off at. Cut them off and then cleaned the area to be welded, jigged it up and tack welded it, re-installed for proper fitment and then finished welding. Then made angle plates to weld to the frame to stop the seat from going back to far and welded it in place. Quote:
