there was a thread on here awhile back bout taking a grinder and making your own white walls. might check that out.

Re: wide whitewall tire????

I wouldn't grind my tires but some people do. I really like the 235/75-15 rear 215/75-15 front combo. After seeing Coach's truck with that combo I decided to go with it too. I believe he got his tires from Hurst. You can also go with Diamondback or Coker. Either way expect about $200-250 per tire. Prices seem to double when you add the white wall.

Edit.. My tuck is too far from completion to show you the tires but here is a link to Coach's build. Post 405 has some great pictures.

I have Cokers, some of my friends are running Diamond Backs. I like the look of the Diamond Back tire over my Cokers, I'd be happy with either brand.

I tried the grinding routine, never again, looked like feces.

Just watched some YouTube videos on grinding tires. Feeling dangerously inspired, but too lazy to do anything about it. Haha

I tired every cheap way out and finally broke down and bought Cokers. The cheapest ones are the Bias Ply. They cost about $150 each which is more that the wheels I bought.

Mine just arrived Monday night. They're Hurt Racing 3" whitewalls, 235/75R15 for the back and 225/70R15 for the front. So far they look great, now I have to get my wheels painted so I can have them mounted.

235 is shown:

235/75R15 Cokers from Summit Racing. Better price than ordering directly from Coker.

Not as nice as the real ones but I got the tires at Discount ($70 m&b) and had mine cut by a tire shop for $15 a tire. He has a special machine that cuts enough to leave a small ridge. He does not grind them. More like a Dremel and the tire turns on his machine like a balancer would spin it. Again, not as nice but it worked for me.

Here a pic of mine. I'm running Goodyear 235/75/15 on the rear and 205/75/15 on the front. I like the Goodyears because they have a diamond pattern in the white wall. It makes them harder to clean but I like the look compared to the smooth white wall of coker/diamondback/BFG silvertowns. But that's just my opinion.

What size rims are you using?

Wheels are 15x7" front and rear. I got them locally in Dallas from a guy named Wallace Wade.

Re: wide whitewall tire????

I like the idea of grinding, because it means I can have some meatier treads while still having a whitewall.

Does he do that using normal equipment? Really I'm just asking can I go to my local tire shop and get the same thing done.
Thanks,

Re: wide whitewall tire????

It is a special tool. It is the only tire shop I know of in Houston that does it.
