T-221 Coupling Seals
 

After learning that I cannot find a coupling for my transmission to transfer case, I'm ready to have one made. Before I do that I need to find seals for each side of the adapter. Could anyone give me some leads on where to look or part numbers?

I have a SM-465 trans & Rockwell T-221 transfer case (10-spline). They are mated together with a Rockwell adapter that has the number "5897R2904" cased into it. The adapter also serves as the transmission mount to vehicle cross member. I don't know if that is known as a divorced or married arrangement.

I have a couple of new 10-spline couplers but before I go to a machine shop, I would like to have the new seals in hand. The machinist will have to make a sleeve to fit over the coupler.

I have some picture included. Any help would be appreciated.

You can get Bearing / Seals / Gaskets .. They don't have the shims so, keep what you already have.

I called them last year looking for Rockwell 221 parts. They told me that the website had not been updated in years. The guy was not very interested in helping me at all. He said he would call me back but never did. But thanks for your response.

Thats too bad, I ordered their rebuild kit last Sept. & got the seals & bearing I needed.

I just had mine gone through, and the seals and bearings were no big deal to get.

I think I may be using the wrong terminology. I'm looking for adapter seals not transfer case seals.

I got a complete seal gasket and bearing set with shims from border parts in Cal. a few years ago, seems like about $180~.

Ahhh. Ok. Well either make some from a stock sheet of fel-pro or some good RTV silicone would work.
