Hello I have a 1969 3/4 4x4 long box step side I was doing research on my truck only to find out it was a fleet side per the vin plate. Does having the step side on my truck drop the value? I want to stay original as passable.our should I put a fleet side back on?

I agree, there are a ton of these trucks out there and VERY FEW are purchased because they are original. Almost all are purchased because the purchaser likes what they are looking at, originality is way down on their list of things to consider when purchasing one of these.

Post the first 7 of your VIN and the model number on your SPID and we can verify what you found.

Yes, that's a wide side.
You have a extra 0 in there. KE20D ZA1xxxx should be your VIN.

So how rare are the lbss trucks I don't see many of them compared to the wblb

I know getting parts for the bed is hard to do especially the side steps

Unless the truck is very original and in very good condition the bed style should not make a big difference in value. Generally wide beds have more market appeal the stepsides. But are you building a truck to drive or sell? Being as almost all long step parts interchange with short bed parts what are you having or perceive having a problem finding for the bed?

The side steps are elusive to me I can find the short ones but nothing for the long except oem and they are usually rusted beyond repairable I am actually contemplating buying 2 left and 2 right and making my own.

You are probably just looking in the wrong place. Coastal Texas is not nice to sheetmetal.
Best bet would be to subscribe, then you can post up a Want To Buy ad aka WTB and then should not have any problem getting a servicable pair. Now C30 (9') steps are a lot harder to find than the 8' steps, so if you find some let me know.
If you are into fabrication a set of aluminum/steel diamond plate steps and a matching wrap around step bumper out back would look great. Have saved a number of interesting fire truck stepside bumpers if you want to think on that.

I do have the rear wrap around bumper. Cab you send some pics of the ones you have.

I don't think the short bed bumpers will fit I have more space than the the one in the pic from the fender to the rear of the bed

Here are two shots of a C30 stepside with a fabricated rear bumper and steps. Note the wrap on the fenders for protection.
Of course you would probably want a lot less rear overhang that they used.

Also a VFD "race truck" it is C40 based with a custom bed but again the steps are an idea. If you wanted a full running board its possible with planning or just adapt what they did in the step region to your fender lines and keep it flush with the side of the cab as the stockers did.

I have more pictures but many are stock 8 or 9' steps and the others I need to dig about for.

As far as adapting a short bed step bumper you are correct in that the fenders are more forward of the rear sill on a 8" (~7.88") or 9'(~12.33") than a 6.5 but it could be adapted and if you were to replate the top, an excelent starting point for making your own custombumper.
That green GMC is a K2500 8' stepside, not a short bed.
