Can anyone confirm I'm routing these front brakelines correctly?
 

The truck is a '70, but the front has been changed over to 5 lug disk from what I can tell (because the rear is 6 lug). I first bought 71 brakelines and they were too short, so I had them match up the existing lines and this is what I have now. Wanted to make sure I'm routing them correctly. I've routed the passenger the way that makes most sense, these pics are standing under and behind the calipers looking toward front of truck. Also, there is a metal tab pictured that is fixed on the brakeline, I can't figure out where this goes-I'm wondering if the brake calipers are a different year than the crossmember and there is no proper place for the tab to go. Appreciate any help, I just want to make sure the lines dont get rubbed or kinked.

edited to ad: Oh, and can you see where the brakeline metal connection towards the top of the pic on the right goes through the tophat of the coil? I'm assuming there is supposed to be some kind of clip to hold it in that hole?

The 71-72 disc brakes have the bracket that holds the brake lines at the front part of the crossmember so I assume that you have the older crossmember which has the bracket on the rear. Here is a picture of one of the 71 brackets with the flexible line, (no hard line is hooked up in this picture).

I had to deal with the same problem and I have done what u did as long as it will not get pinched off bind or rub I would call it good

I assume that the bracket you point out has a hex hole. Your flex line should have a hex-body fitting on the inboard end that goes up through the bracket. Above the hex will be a turned down shoulder that accepts a flat clip.

Stock brake lines on my 71. I have 72 calipors though. they are cheaper and easier to get. I added the S/S flex hoses. This is how they look. My pictures are from the front of the truck.;):chevy:

Don't remember who posted this but...I'm sure what was said was that there a little longer.

I have used impala brake hoses from your local parts store on more than 1 conversion. If your banjo bolt is 7/16 , use 77 impala , if it is 10mm , use 80-86 impala. Please check on your truck , but it has worked for me. -Bob

I'm going thru this right now on a 70' Chevy, with the disk conversion you have to reroute the hard line to the front of the crossmember and then the hose will route there. I think I bought the wrong brake hose mounts though, the hose wouldn't fit so I drilled it and now it's to loose to hold the clip on firmly.:waah:. Good luck!
