help with power windows

I hang around on the 67-72 side but I have a couple of questions about my son's 91 burb.
The drivers side power window wants to move about 2" up or down and I suspect there's a lot of corrosion in the track from a leaky window seal and also a potential bad motor.
Does anyone know if the motor/track regulator could be switched with the rear DS door?
Secondly, any instructions on how to test the window motor when we've pulled it? Just want a few ideas before we tear in.

Thanks

Re: help with power windows

I lubed everything up and replaced the motors on mine and they are pretty fast now. With the motor off the regulator you can work it back and forth by hand and see if it's getting any easier. There is a big coil spring that provides tension. I found that it was rusty and would bind. I spent quite a bit of time soaking the spring in solvents and oil.

Also, there is a good thread on here somewhere about adding relays to provide more power to the window motors. If I have any more problems with mine I am going to try this.

Thanks Greenlee, I appreciate the info. We won't tear into it until the weekend so we'll try what you suggest.
Anyone know if we can swap it with the DS rear?
