I need mounting ideas for newer 3rd row seat
Well I officially out grown my suburban. I need more seats. The wood in the back seems a bit worn to my liking and if I am mounting a seat for my kids to sit I need peace of mind that they are safe.
What have other people done that you know about? I am thinking about replacing the wood and then attaching metal plants running the whole length side to side and attach to the frame and body. I also thought about having someone graft in a newer rear area from a 2000+ chevy suburban. I want safe, but I can't afford crazy custom work. Thanks Chris |
Re: I need mounting ideas for newer 3rd row seat
I seen that floor change on this forum before. Looked like a lot of work. There is a cross member where the original third seat rear feet attached. I'm not sure about securing the front.
On a side note, my '65 Town Wagon was originally a three seat SUV. It used some type of hook and pin to attach the seats to the floor. The rear two seats are missing but the pieces are still in the floor. I don't think they are attached to a cross member at all, just the plywood. |
Re: I need mounting ideas for newer 3rd row seat
I have a buddy that works for Curtis Motorsports(trophy trucks) and he said we can try and fab something up in the "shop" lol
I might go to the local pick a part and cut up the rear floor on a few suburbans, see if we can graft in a rear floor at least get the pocket cups for third row seats. Fun times Chris |

Whodaman did what I believe is what you are looking to do. All late model seats and metal floorpan in rear.

I want to use the second and third row floor pan sections in my swap possibly the front floor section too. I considered a body swap onto an altered wheel base square body Suburban chassis & floor pan assembly. |
