My Longhorn went missing
This board is so valuable in so many ways.
My 71 big block C2500 had the symptoms of vapor locking. It missed under load, seemed to run out of fuel when extremely hot outside and under load. I had changed the fuel filters twice, moved the fuel line around to make sure it wasn't touching anything, new tank and sending unit, new rubber hoses, new fuel pump, all to no avail. I'm sorry I don't know who to give credit to, but I saw a post on here about the positive wire to the HEI partially missing or damaged causing similar symptoms to mine. I checked mine and sure enough, someone had just twisted the wire together and taped it. I stripped the wire clean, soldered it together, put the shrink wrap on and problem fixed. So simple I keep expecting the symptoms to return. |

The knowledge on this board never ceases to amaze me. That is one of those problems that you could chase forever if you hadn't read that post and remembered it.... LockDoc |

Based on your title... Thought it was stolen....
Congrats on the simple fix. |
Re: My Longhorn went missing
Before I found the problem, I wished a couple of times somebody would steal it.
Funny how you can go from happy to sad and vise/versa so quickly with these old rigs. |
Re: My Longhorn went missing
Whew! You scared me. I'm glad it was never missing, but only missing, and now it's not missing because you found the problem ;)

I know what you mean. Having to chase a driveline vibration is one of those painful things too. After having an alignment, new u-joints, carrier bearing, driveshaft balanced, new harmonic balancer, tires balanced, wheel bearings checked...the truck still had vibration problems. Talking to a boardmember here with the same problem revealed a bad water pump could be the issue. Problem solved.

Sorry, I didn't mean for this to be confusing. To clear things up, it wasn't really missing, it was just missing. |
