poly cab and core support mounts...I'm stumped!
Did a frame off on my 72 C10 LB. Installed new poly cab mounts followed directions included in kit and double checked correct placement here by reviewing past threads. The kit included core support mounts, i go to install fenders and there is a 1/2-3/4" gap bottom fender and door and 1/8-1/4" top of fender and door..like the front of cab is too low or core support to high..removed core support mounts and the core support is slammed to frame, but fenders now correct uniform gap between fender and door. Anyone seen this problem? Acting like I need to shim front of the can up by 1/2" plus.

I picked up somebody abandon project from the PO.
When pulling the front clip off I noticed he has (2) 1/4 spacers under the front of the cab on his new cab mounts he installed. |

Re: poly cab and core support mounts...I'm stumped!
I cut the rad support rubbers in half and everything worked out

Might want to take a few pictures and show us what you have!

Re: poly cab and core support mounts...I'm stumped!
I guess I was afraid to say it but the same thing happened to me. I was in a hurry so I just put the spacers under my cab and I probably should have just cut the radiator poly's. It seems now that my ladder rack is a fair bit closer to the top of the cab looking back at old pics with the smashed rubber mounts. I guess the ones they send are too large. Mine is 4x4 BTW.

Re: poly cab and core support mounts...I'm stumped!
Hate to dig this up but I put poly bushings in my c20 and now the rear of the cab is too high, the lines don't match with the bed lines. Do they make the taller rear poly bushings too tall?

Re: poly cab and core support mounts...I'm stumped!
I ordered poly bushings the first time, but chickened out and didn't put them on.
I reordered factory style bushings for my 4x4 and everything worked great. |
Re: poly cab and core support mounts...I'm stumped!
Your radiator core support is sitting on the two new rubber bushings, right?
These trucks have many variables when it comes to lining body panels up. I had to open up a couple of holes in the core support and grill brackets with a die grinder and still I have the passenger side outer fender dipping down a bit. I have decided to let that go for now and maybe let a body shop fix that. My attempts to get an experienced forum member to come to my house to help me do this all came to naught. |
