What is the opinion on these tires? I am considering buying a set from a guy that has changed the direction of his project. They are 235/85/16. I would run them in Western Iowa in the winter. I kind of like the tall/skinny look. What is your guys opinion? Thank you, Bruce

Truck is a 69 GMC K10 with 2.5" lift.

Tall skinny is best for snow no doubt. My '72 K2500 has 255/85-16s on it at the moment. I feel a major difference in rolling resistance from wider tires that have been on it. had them on a '92 K3500 SRW before and felt the difference from the 285/75s that were on before. Feels like better gas mileage to me, but never checked. The narrow tire gets down in it and finds traction. They aren't pizza cutters, they're mud & snow cutters.

With a 2.5" lift do you think the 235/85 would look a little small? I am planning on using either 3 or 4 nub 6 bolt 16" OEM rims. Which ever ones I get first. I am running drum brakes all around. What do you think is the widest tire you could run on those type of rims? Thank you, Bruce

I think the 2.5" lift will look great,not lanky but healthier than stock. They are around 31-ish inches. I think those are all 5.5" so I'd say 8-9" max on tires. Probably the 235/85s would be your best bet

This is exactly what I am doing with my 71 Blazer. Just waiting for the paint to dry on my 16X5 3 nubs and then the 235/85/16 hurcules mudders are going on. I have had the same tires in 31/10.50/15's for a while and love them. Very good bang for the buck and the tread design looks rather vintage. As far as the widest tire you can run on those rims, I would say that would be it. Technically, that tire is too wide for a 16X5 rim, but I know others have done it.

The 235/85-16s would be the standard size for pre-88 3/4t trucks (GM,dodge,ford,IH,whatever) and those trucks had 6" wide wheels. so no crazy center crown will result. They said the 285/75s would crown on my '95 K3500 with factory 6" wheels...technically too wide. I ran many sets in the 335k I drove that truck and never had issues with excessive center wear. Those tires are about 9-10" tread width,IIRC. The sidewalls bulged from the bead, or the bead looks sucked in, more than normal. But, no issues (was a heavy constant 8k#+ work truck,too). You'll be fine. I wish I had a picture. This is a new computer and I have yet to have stuff transferred over off the old one.
