3500 GMC front disc conversion

I have a 68 GMC one ton and a 82 Chevy one ton parts truck. I was wondering if the front suspension cross member from the 82 will work in the 68 like the 1/2 tons. Or has anyone set a 68 cab and front clip on a 82 style one ton chassis?

I also have a 68 3500. I've done almost everything except the disc conversion. I just wanted to chime in and wish you luck. Post the results for those of us hoping to avoid the problems. As far as the cab swap, you may have title issues. At least that's the case here in Texas. Good luck

Thanks for the link but it appears to be for 1/2 ton trucks, not 1 tons

I have a 68 Chevy 1 ton and a 79 Chevy 1 ton donor. I pulled out the entire crossmember and installed the new one from the donor a couple weeks ago. My build thread "Meet Homer" shows this. Just like the 1/2 tons you have to drill one new hole and elongate one hole on the side of the frame, "BUT, the 1 ton donors have an extra piece (c channel) that goes inside the frame that requires drilling one more hole through the top frame rail. The older frames did not have this piece so you could probably get by without it, but I figured the GM engineers did not put it in the 79's just for fun, so I used it.
No big deal. I pulled both out and new one in in one day by myself so if you got any help piece of cake.

You are welcome. Sorry to see your hurt truck.
