GMC Radiator support question? HELP!!

I'm new to the forum site, but I've come here to find answer that I desperately need haha, my problem is....I'm restoring a 1972 gmc 1500 from the ground up! Every it and bolt new, and putting a 2004 lq9 and 4l80e 2wd into it, the swap went great and so far the drive train looks awesome! Couldn't be happier, but my problem now is that I live in Alberta Canada and getting parts for these trucks is quite a challenge, so here it is.... I want to change the front end of the truck to th 67 style grill and fenders, but!... This is becoming a challange because I can't find a reproduction 67 gmc rad support :( so my question is, can I use a 72 rad support with the 67 fenders, hood, and grill?? All the threads I've read don't really give a straight answer. :(!

No I think you have to have the 67 or 68 radiator core support.

Let me see if there is one to be had......yep!

This guy is well spoken of here: scroll down to find the part you want.

The 69-72 should work, the only difference is the mounting holes for a splash pan on the lower front for 67-68. Look at gmcpauls pics.

Re: GMC Radiator support question? HELP!!

Lets talk this over first. The headlights are in a different spot in the support 67-8 from 69-72 that is the main thing that make s the supports different , from what I have come to understand. Also the gmc fenders are the same for all years 67 not in this of course because the marker lamps But their contour is the same so all gmc fenders should look the same. So going with that I would try the 72 support on the GMC before anything else. Also you can buy the Chevy core support and put the 4 eyed lamp system on it. But now GMC Paul has a GMC core support that has come out lately[ within the last year or so] time gets away from me. Check out his pages. I will be getting to know for sure the differences as I have a 68 gmc and a 68 chevy to build al;ong with a 71 Chevy and 2 70'schevys as well. Good luck Jim

I feel lucky to have a pristine rust free 67-68 gmc support sitting in garage waiting to be installed

Re: GMC Radiator support question? HELP!!

You will also need a 67-68 upper grille bar to use the 67-68 sloped hood.
