Liverat pick and pull

1 Attachment(s)
Went up to Marks place the last couple of weekends and got some goodies.

Bunch of 68 stuff. Some NOS steel grill hoops and headlight rings. Also several used hoops and rings.

A few extra wing windows and visors (ha!). Some cool old bucket seats out of a Studebaker. Couple of new windshield rubbers, the chrome trim style. A bunch of door panels. Headlight buckets and headlights. Nice AM radio and some stock speakers. Some 68 NOS front grill lenses and decent used housings. And a mess of interesting things for our trucks.

None of this stuff is for sale.

I need to go back up because I forgot a few things, and Mark would like his crates back =)

I think Mark is the first board member I met in person. I purchased some good stuff from him many years ago. And he has helped me immensely over the years by supplying me with a bunch of good parts, building the chassis for my panel, and answering all my dopey questions lol. And he was a big part in the build "parties" we had out at the farm for longhorn man and brad.

CG, he has helped me over the years also, not only with parts, but some of my dopey questions over the phone as well. I haven't stumped him with any questions yet...

LOL... you forgot to mention the interesting part.. We crammed all this stuff into the back of CG's Scion. I was amazed on how much that little car could haul.

He is our in-house Scion XB pro! I don't know why he feels the need to build a panel truck

The next time CG comes out I will really test out his Scion stuffing skills, I have at least a dozen long fleet bedsides, front panels and three floors that need to leave.

Wait... does this mean the Panel is going to be worked on again??? I think it was just painted about when I joined up with this place :haha:

:D

Ok maybe I havent been around the grinding wheel in a bit for a 'tool sharpening... ;)

But if this stuff is not for sale then what is it for? a personal collection? is he giving it away? paying it forward stuff? or just hoarding???

Re: Liverat pick and pull

I do actually need a bunch of it. I'll have sorted through what I want to keep by the time the spring swap meet is here. I'll set my nephews up with the leftovers in a booth. They can have the proceeds. It's good experience for them. They really live out in the sticks, so they have limited exposure in these types of social interaction. They had fun helping me in the past with our board booth, so it should be interesting with them having their own

I can not speak for CG's intention of those items but I think a little back ground info is due.
After 35 years of me buying, selling, building, parting and scrapping 67-72 trucks I am down to my last couple of truck builds that I will ever do, So as time permits I have been slowly digging through and purging all the excess, Some of the items I sold, most was free, take what you want anything left I will scrap. (I simply do not have the time nor motivation to sell, box and ship anything).
So last weekend I dug out what CG was interested in along with a bunch of other items I no longer wanted, not wanting to see anything to get recycled he took it all.

Thanks for sharing. I feel a loss knowing that Mark is backing away from the hobby. I will keep the memory alive by occasionally posting my pic of his 16 nice tailgates on Tuesdays!

Jared, I am not "backing away" from the hobby just simply winding down a bit and changing focus, I still have the car/truck/motorcycle "addiction" which has been with me since I pushed my first car home in 1968. Its in my blood. LOL

When did you sneak in and get some tailgate pictures?

Whew! I feel better knowing I can still call on you. It was at your current place. I think I've only been there twice so it must have been around summer of 2012?

Not the right forum but Mark managed the painting and some assembly on my other passion. He is a top notch guy!

Re: Liverat pick and pull

I would never call Mark a hoarder. With these truck parts there is only "owning". It's a stash, not a hoard. Gotta have the stuff to do the stuff you want to do to stuff, so you stuff it into sheds!

Funny, I think Mark and I are close in age and I am right where he is at with truck building. Had a 35 year stash of trucks and parts in these years and came to the point where I figure I'd be happy with a couple, a last year factory K2500 with some nice options and a first year li'l shortbed C1500 hot rod built from the ground-up just the way I like. There are many other things I'd like to do with my life before it's over,, and other vehicles I hope to own. I'm not getting out of it, it's been my life. I'm making my 67-72 GM Truck interest more 'manageable'.

I'm pretty sure I'm 'cured' now. Although I still buy stuff I know I need, I have passed up many chances for big bargains. I passed this $500 deal that was offered to me on to my friend:
