How big is too big?

I'm looking at buying a truck that has 22 inch wheels on it. Is this too big for these trucks? I can negotiate the truck without them so I'm trying to decide. I would prefer something around 20's at most but I have not driven a truck with larger than stock wheels. I don't want a ruff ride and it is on lowered shocks already. Also I am not able to drive the truck yet. What do you think?

thanks

I think if you can get the truck with out the 22 inch wheels you would be better off. Why pay that guy for his style wheels if you can avoid that trainwreck. I'm sure you could get something in a plus 1 or maybe even a plus 2 to look a lot better and ride better than the rubber band hoops on that huge wheel. I'm not a fan of the huge wheel one is the cost and two is well they look Tonka-ish when put on. sorry to those that like the huge wheel but that is my thought and that is what he asked for. Jim

If you don't like them and you can get the truck significantly cheaper without them, that'd be the way I'd go. That being said if you had an idea of the value of the wheels, that would be helpful to figuring out what to do. No reason to leave money on the table, if you could sell the 22s for more than he's willing to take off theres no reason not too. I ran into a similar situation on an '83 I picked up, only 150 dollars difference between buying the truck with the stock wheels + a set of pretty nice aluminum mags vs without so I felt it was better to go ahead and get both sets.

I'd say if you can get the truck for $900-1000 less without the 22s do it. I had a hard time selling the 22" 6 lug rims with new tires for $700-800. They fit lots of trucks/SUVs but be careful and have potential buyers test fit them because of the small center bore size.

Thanks for the info I can get the truck 1400 cheaper so it will definitely save some cash. Wheels are chrome so i can forget about repairing them after hitting the L.A.pot holes. There is hardly any side walls so I think I'll leave them alone. Look forward to more advice after the purchase soon.

dang, 1,400 cheaper? I think I'd leave them too. Thats pretty significant.
