1960 Chevrolet Apache wiper motor Interchangeability
Hi everyone, so my wiper motor has been acting up recently and I think the motor is going bad. Does anyone know where to find a new one and if they are interchangeable between1960-1966. I do know its under the dash in 1960. It's weird because I had it working just fine since we got it. Now after the restoration, it would run for 2-5 minutes, then blow a fuse and each time it does so, the arms stop at exactly the same place. Just kind of a weird deal.
Thanks, Nate |
Re: 1960 Chevrolet Apache wiper motor Interchangeability
I looked in the 1962 Chevrolet Master Parts Book.
Going out on a limb here I'm assuming you have a single speed wiper only. GM Parts book says 4907734 60-61 is the same motor then it changes for a new number for single speed 62. Hollander Interchange says 166. for single speed electric Buick 59-61. Buick Special 61 Chev. Pass. & Delivery. 59-61 Chev Truck 60-61 excluding forward control (which means P models) Chev Truck 62-63 Tilt Cab Corvair 60-61 GMC J & N series single speed model 1000 K1000,1500,K1500 & 2500 Olds 59-6Olds F85 61-62 Pontiac 59-61 Tempest 61 Check for proper grounding before getting another motor. Read that somewhere. |

Hollander also states it can be stamped 5045283.
They include a Note: Org. equip. is different for each year. Wipers from later jobs will fit any earlier jobs, but it is not recommended that earlier be installed in later jobs. |
