Tow Hook Question (Identify)

4 Attachment(s)
I recently saw a set of tow hooks that look similar to a set posted on the "out in the shop" website that are described as "dealer installed hooks" I tried searching for posts on these type of hooks but couldn't find anything.

The picture he has on his site of the unpainted dealer hooks and the dealer accessory page are posted below. Also - I posted a picture of the chrome hooks I saw.

Do the chrome hooks look to be the same hooks as the ones on the dealer accessories page?

They look the same to me, also look just like the three hooks on my K20. Typical aftermarket hooks, very common, available almost anywhere.

Any idea what book that picture of the aftermarket parts might be from?

I was going to say that looks like it's from a Hickey catalog, and after checking, the page isn't exact but the tow hooks are. Although the Hickey catalog doesn't have a list price, the shipping weight is two pounds lighter!

Yours look to be the same.
Part numbers on both pages match as well.

We always called those Jeep hooks. They sell clips for mounting them under the frame. I used to run them on everything. The best tow hooks I ever used were back when I build bumpers for my trucks. I would just weld a chain hook on the bottom of the bracket. Hook the chain in any length you want and if the chain breaks you can still hook up.

And I bet that hook made of a chain link was as safe as any of todays hooks too. I think that's what you're saying, because that's how I remember my friends dad did it on his farm trucks, just weld an open chain link on to the frame or bumper.
