Disc brake bracket

My 71 blazer has 2 different types of cdisc brake brackets on it. I tried to put the d52 wilwood brakes on it and the passenger side went on great and the driver side didn't go on at all. The passenger side has a bracket and a dust shield bolted to it and the driver side side is a dust shield and braket all in one. Anyone have an idea? Is there a difference from the 71 72 models from a 73 and on Dana 44 disc brake cover? I'm thinking that's my problem. Maybe.

I suspect the PO was fooling around in there, I would source the correct bracket from the parts board. Rippen probably has one in Pa.

Re: Disc brake bracket

GM disc brake outers for the D44 will have a spindle that is secured to the knuckle with 6 studs. A Ford disc brake outer for a D44 will have 5 studs connecting it to the knuckle. The GM and Ford outers have different brake calipers and mounting. Check to make sure you are not running the correct GM outer setup on one side and a Ford outer setup on the other. Just a thought.

Another thought. I can't remember, but perhaps you have a 3/4 ton D44 caliper mount on the driver's side. I seem to remember these being different from the 1/2 ton to accommodate the larger rotor disc for the 3/4 ton application, but I also seem to remember that the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton took the same caliper. Hopefully someone can verify this.

Post a pic of each is your best bet to help get it figured out for sure and yes I think 73+ uses a different bracket than 71/2.
